What is the LiveScribe Smart Pen? It’s a computer in a pen that records and plays back audio, takes 70 pictures per second with a high speed infrared camera AND syncs the audio with the written word. Sounds too good to be true right? Well, then prepare to be AMAZED! It’s the only way I take notes anymore!
Below is an excellent video that demonstrates the Echo Smart Pen including some amazing tips to improve your notetaking.
With the LiveScribe Smart Pen you’ll never miss a single word of a meeting or lecture again. You’ll have the entire audio file of the lecture or meeting saved on your pen. However, the major advantage is the ability to listen to exactly what was being said when you wrote a specific word by double tapping that word. If the professor stresses a particular point, just make a symbol on your notebook such as a star, then you’ll know where to double tap in your notes to review that information!
After you take your notes, you can upload them along with the audio to your computer. That way if you lose your notebook – – no worries. You’ve got everything you need from when you uploaded your notes.
I can not tell you how many times I’ve had students come back to me and thank me for telling them about the Smart Pen. Not only did their grades improve, but it made studying so much easier.
NOTE: All pens come in various storage sizes; 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, etc. I recommend the 2GB size, not only because it’s the most affordable, but because each gigabyte will hold 100 hours of audio. If need be, you can always delete the audio from the pen after you’ve uploaded it to your computer.
I hope you found this article helpful. If you decide to purchase a pen or already have one, I would love to hear from you in the comments below. Enjoy!
